Doug Duncan

Senior Vice President & Chief Economist, Fannie Mae

Douglas G. Duncan is Fannie Mae's senior vice president and chief economist. He is responsible for providing all forecasts and analyses on the economy, housing, and mortgage markets for Fannie Mae. Duncan also oversees corporate strategy and is responsible for strategic research regarding external factors and their potential impact on the company and the housing industry. He serves as a voting member of the Fannie Mae Finance Committee.

Under his leadership, Fannie Mae’s Economic and Strategic Research Group won the NABE Outlook Award, presented annually for the most accurate GDP and Treasury note yield forecasts, in both 2015 and 2016 – the first recipient in the award's history to capture the honor two years in a row. In addition, the Group was awarded Pulsenomics best home price forecast.

Named one of Bloomberg / BusinessWeek's 50 Most Powerful People in Real Estate, Duncan is Fannie Mae's source for information and analyses on the external business and economic environment, the implications of changes in economic environment to the company's strategy and execution, and forecasting for housing activity, demographics, overall economic activity, and mortgage market activity.

Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Duncan was Senior Vice President and Chief Economist at the Mortgage Bankers Association. His experience also includes service as a LEGIS Fellow and staff member with the Committee on Banking, Finance, and Urban Affairs for Congressman Bill McCollum in the U.S. House of Representatives, and work on the Financial Institutions Project at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Duncan received his Ph. D. in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University and his B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Economics from North Dakota State University.

Alison Fett

AVP Talent Development, Verve a Credit Union

Alison Fett has been the Assistant Vice President of Talent Development at Verve a Credit Union for the past three years. In this role, she strives to create a culture of servant leadership through developmental trainings and one-on-one coaching. Alison takes pride in serving those around her and inspiring others to do the same. Her leadership style is one of self-discovery, empowerment, candor, and unconditional love. Alison firmly believes servant leadership is a journey not a destination.

Prior to working for Verve, Alison was the principal at Lourdes Academy Elementary Schools in Oshkosh, Wisconsin while coaching their girls’ basketball team. Alison has also worked for the NBA, NCAA, and NBC. In her earlier years, she was a personal trainer and high school secretary. 

Through all her experiences, Alison has discovered serving one another is key to fostering a great culture and, ultimately, enhances the bottom line. She believes when you take care of your team, your team will take care of your members, and the results will come. In 2016, Alison had the opportunity to share her message at CUES CEO/Executive Team Network in Savannah, Georgia, where she was named a Finalist in the CUES Next Top Credit Union Executive Competition. 

Alison received her Bachelor’s degree in Radio, TV, Film and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.  When Alison is not working, she enjoys golfing, watching basketball, fishing, creating arts/crafts, public speaking and, last but not least, dance parties with her two children Vincent – (“Vinny”, 6) and Penelope – (“PJ”, 3).

Ken Otsuka

Senior Consultant Business Protection Risk Management, CUNA Mutual Group

Ken Otsuka is a senior consultant in Business Protection Risk Management for CUNA Mutual Group. In this role he assists credit unions in identifying areas of risk in their operations and recommends appropriate loss controls to reduce loss exposure.

Otsuka joined Risk Management in 1990 after spending eight years as an auditor with another insurance company and is also responsible for researching and analyzing emerging risks for product development along with developing resource and other training material for credit unions.

A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Otsuka earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He received his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation in 1982.

Otsuka is frequently asked to speak by various organizations on a variety of fraud and compliance topics. He also provides training for credit union employees. Otsuka is considered an expert on Federal Reserve Regulation CC and often conducts training seminars on the regulation.

Tansley Stearns

Chief Impact Officer

As Filene Research Institute’s Chief Impact Officer, Tansley Stearns moves the best of Filene’s research and innovation into action. With more than 18 years of credit union leadership experience across a variety of functional areas, she knows how to help an organization move ideas forward to drive business results. She has a passion for learning, creating, and executing.

In her previous roles at credit unions she was responsible for developing and implementing strategy and leading and driving business with all frontline teams including the call center, branches, lending, training, compliance, marketing, and business development. Tansley has been a key member of the Guiding Coalition at two credit unions, helping to build and develop sales and service cultures. She also helped her credit union win first place in both the Dora Maxwell and Louise Herring awards.

Tansley was one of the original credit union professionals chosen to be a participant in Filene’s i3 innovation program. In her three years with i3, she worked with other credit union executives to create innovative projects including SmartScore, Decision Point, and Debt in Focus. Credit Union Times named her a Trailblazer 40 Below in 2013.

Tansley earned her BA dual degree in Psychology and English at the University of Michigan. She is a Credit Union Executive Society Certified Marketing Executive and Certified Senior Executive. She also is an Alumni Emeritus of Michael Neill and Associates. When not actively executing new ideas, Tansley can be found running marathons or dancing to the Dave Matthews Band with her daughter MacKenzie.
